It has been another full and vibrant week at Como Secondary College, with plenty happening across our classrooms, grounds and wider community.
The colder weather has certainly settled in, and we are seeing a noticeable shift to winter conditions. This is a timely reminder to families that Uniform Concepts has new stock available, and our Second-Hand Uniform Shop will be reopening soon. Many thanks to our P&C for their ongoing support in making this service available to our community.
At our recent School Board meeting, I spoke about the importance of strengthening The Como Way. This work is about clearly articulating who we are as a school community and the expectations we hold for ourselves and one another. It connects to how we learn, how we work, and how we engage respectfully and positively in society. This will continue to be an important focus as we move forward together.
Across the College this week, there has been a rich array of experiences for students. Our NAIDOC Week activities have been a highlight, providing meaningful opportunities to recognise and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Students have also been out and about, with Women in Trade excursions, EMITS students visiting universities and attending the Big Day In, and our IEC students enjoying a visit to Yanchep National Park. In sport, the Buchanan Cup hockey competition brought great energy and team spirit, further showcasing the breadth of opportunities available to our students.
A quick reminder regarding future enrolments. If you have a child starting with us next year, please complete the enrolment forms on our website and ensure these are returned by the end of next week.
Please also remind any family or friends if they are intending on joining our college, to get these in. Receiving this information on time greatly assists us with our planning and staffing for 2027, and we appreciate your support in this process.
Looking ahead, we are excited for next week’s Cabaret evening. This is always a fantastic showcase of student talent and a wonderful night for our community. We look forward to seeing many of you there supporting our performers.
Finally, like many of you, I have been keeping an eye on the World Cup action. It has certainly thrown up some surprises, with the so-called minnows making their mark. Who could have predicted results such as England overcoming Croatia, or Spain holding on in a thrilling draw with Cape Verde? All eyes now turn to Australia v USA. Come on Socceroos!
