School life is often challenging and complex for some students. It is for this reason that Como Secondary College currently offers extra support to students through our volunteer and mentor program.
EdConnect currently offer us the services of volunteers that they have trained to either support students in the classroom or as a mentor on a one to one basis. Both the volunteers and the students benefit from this arrangement.
The volunteers help students to raise their literacy and numeracy standards as well as equip them with the life skills they need. The student’s wellbeing is enhanced and our community enriched by enabling people of all ages to help each other.
The volunteers benefit as they are able to acquire new skills, interest, networks, a renewed sense of purpose and a sense of belonging to a community.
It is these volunteers that help us to provide support to students so that everyone has the opportunity to realise their potential.
