Central to the students’ experience at Como is a school culture that promotes learning. The school is driven by the deep belief that every student is capable of successful learning and that it is the responsibility of every teacher to ensure that all students progress.
An important part of social learning at Como is what we call ‘The Como Way’.
Como Secondary College provides a supportive working environment in which professional development is a priority. The school has a mix of teachers at different stages of their careers. Graduates and new teachers to the school will be working alongside supportive colleagues who have the skills, knowledge to make their transition easier.
It is expected that all teachers will collaborate and share the workload within the learning areas and the school in general. Decisions are made on the basis of what is best for the student.
Como Secondary College began as Como High School. The school was built in 1968 on a 30-acre site at the western end of the Collier Pine Plantation at a time of rapid expansion in the state. It was officially opened in 1969 and has gone on to build over 50 years of tradition.
Como is renowned for being a highly multi-cultural school where everyone is welcome – students come to Como from every part of Perth, regional WA and all across the world for a high-quality education.
