It’s happened! The social media bans are officially in place. Don’t be alarmed if you notice a moody teen wandering around your house like they’ve lost part of their soul. Approach with caution — they may even start talking to you.
Welcome everyone to what has been a fantastic week of celebrations and acknowledgements across our college community.
On Tuesday night we held our EMITS Celebration, recognising the achievements of students in our STEM extension program. The projects on display were a reminder of the creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving that define the EMITS ethos. Whether designing future technologies or analysing real-world challenges and demonstrating their creativity , our students continue to show that innovation isn’t just a skill, it’s a mindset.
Wednesday night brought our Golf Awards, always a highlight on the calendar. It was wonderful to celebrate the precision, patience, and perseverance our students have demonstrated throughout the year. Our student leader Kane did an amazing job interviewing Jordan Jung. A budding journo in the making. There were plenty of “above par” jokes floating around, and while I promised not to wedge too many in, let’s just say the night was definitely a hole-in-one for our program and its growing talent.
On Thursday we concluded with the Hockey Program Awards. This program continues to go from strength to strength, with students showing remarkable teamwork, determination, and skill. The sense of camaraderie on and off the field is unmistakable — a reminder that while skill wins games, connection builds teams.
This week the Executive team and I also attended several primary school graduations. It was a privilege to watch students close one chapter and prepare to open another. Welcoming so many of them as future Como students was a genuine highlight and a reminder of the exciting journey ahead for our 2026 cohort.
Next week we head into our final assembly of the year, where we will acknowledge outstanding student achievements, followed by our Adventure World Good Standing event — a well-earned celebration for those who have demonstrated commitment, positive behaviour, and strong engagement throughout the year.
All of these events reinforce a simple truth: connection matters. Belonging is the heartbeat of community; when we feel connected, we thrive. This is exactly what we are building here at Como — a place where every student feels seen, supported, and part of something meaningful.
We have witnessed tremendous growth in our students this year, and I continue to be amazed by their progress, resilience, and character.
