Dear Families and Friends of Como
This week we celebrated the magic of Book Week, and what a celebration it was! The College was alive with activities, quizzes, and engaging lessons, all centred on the joy of reading and storytelling. Our Year 12 students and staff went the extra mile by dressing up and bringing some of literature’s most beloved characters to life. It was a wonderful reminder of the fun and creativity that books inspire in all of us.
On Monday, 36 of our Golf Academy students represented the College with great pride in the SSWA Secondary Schools’ Golf Championship. This prestigious event is the flagship of school golf in WA, and our students not only performed to the high standards they set for themselves, but also displayed the values and integrity of the Como Way.
A special congratulations to our first team of Lucas W., Kortni H. and Connor P., who ensured that the title of Champion School returned to Como Secondary College. This is a truly outstanding achievement, and we are so proud of the effort and dedication shown by all of our golfers.
We now look forward to more exciting challenges ahead:
- Good luck to our golfers competing in the School Sport WA Golf Championships this weekend.
- And best wishes to our Hockey students, who will compete in the Buchanan and David Bell Cups next Wednesday. These fixtures are always competitive and exciting—we know our students will give their all and represent the College with pride.
This week also saw our School Board meet, where one of the key items discussed and endorsed was the decision to investigate the implementation of a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for students. BYOD has the potential to enhance learning by ensuring students have consistent access to technology, making it easier to collaborate, access resources, and develop the digital skills that are so vital for life beyond school. We look forward to consulting further with families as we explore this important initiative.
It has been another week of achievements, celebration, and forward thinking at Como.
