School Day Details

First Day At Como

The beginning of a new school year can be a challenge when deciding what to pack for the first day.

We recommend that students bring only the basic essentials, including:

  • Pencil case
  • Notepad
  • Lunch or money to order lunch

Once students have their timetable, it will be easier from Day 2 to include the books or sports uniforms required for each day’s classes.  Students are encouraged to pack their bag in the evening ready for the following school day.

On the first day of the school year, a Welcome Bell will sound and students will move toward the gymnasium for a full school assembly. At the conclusion of the assembly students, students will attend year group meetings and then move on to their Form room.

During Form time:

  • Student attendance will be recorded
  • Student timetables will be issued
  • Form teachers will distribute student diaries
  • General housekeeping and administration will be performed.

Form time will continue throughout the school year.

School Diary

All students receive a diary at the beginning of each year.

School diaries are essential for all students. They allow students to keep a daily record of homework and

general reminders about upcoming events and school circumstances. Parents may also use the diary to

communicate with teachers and advise of early or late departures.

Subsequent or lost diaries can be replaced but at an additional cost to the student.

Smart Rider

Transperth Smartrider cards enable students to access public transport using a cashless payment system.  They are also used to borrow College library resources.

Students are issued a Smartrider card in Year 7, usually mid term 1.  Cards are retained by students for use through to Year 12.  Lost cards can be replaced at a cost of $5 usually within 10 working days and can be requested at the Hub.

The College community has endorsed the implementation of a dress code as it enhances a sense of belonging, focuses students when at school and assists with the identification of visitors.

Students are expected to wear the uniform at all times.

We are currently considering additional items of uniform for those students who prefer more modest attire.

Our school uniform supplier is Uniform Concepts, located at

30 Kembla Way
