Vision

It is the desire of Como Secondary College that through the Community Service program ….

Students will…

  • Be enriched by serving others
  • Grow as individuals through the personal and interpersonal development opportunities

 

Como Secondary College will…

  • Be enriched by the students wider appreciation of life
  • Notice the difference in the students because of the resultant focus being taken off themselves and placed on others

 

The local community will…

  • Benefit from the adult communities interaction with developing youth
  • Be enriched by the contributions of the students to the building of Community spirit

 

Purpose

  • The Community Service Program (CSP) educates students to know that giving helpful service to the community is an important value in our society.

 

Guidelines

  1. Students must complete 20 hours of community service by the end of Year 12 to achieve WACE graduation.
  2. CSP can be done either during school time or out of school hours.
  3. For accreditation, community service must be external to Como Secondary College.
  4. The hours of CSP are verified by the Como Secondary College Coordinator of CSP.
  5. The responsibility for completing community service remains with the student.
  6. Students may not proceed to Year 12 until the requirements for community service are met.
