Rock Eisteddfod is a student developed, dance based, spectacular, enthusiastically supported by staff and parents. It is open to all students at the college, from absolute beginners with no experience to those with. All the decisions about the story, music, choreography, costumes, props and lighting are made by the Year 12 Rock Eisteddfod leaders, and together with all the other students, they turn their dreams into reality, with parents and staff simply backing them up. This is an opportunity to wear makeup and fabulous costumes and perform on a big stage in front of a huge audience and they love it.
Rock Eisteddfod rehearsals are held in your own time, but for that big time commitment there are also lots of rewards. Not only do we see huge improvements in dance skills, but also in fitness, leadership, teamwork and friendship networks across all Years. If you want to be involved, but not on stage, our back stage members who work on makeup, lighting, and making and moving props are also really valued. In line with our Rock Eisteddfod success and the new curriculum, dance at Como has become increasingly popular, with both girls and boys now aiming to do dance as a TEE subject under the excellent tuition of specialist dance teachers.
